Bryan Lee - Heat Seeking Missile

BRYAN LEE
Heat Seeking Missile

"If by the halfway point on Heat Seeking Missile, you haven't already deduced Bryan Lee's position in the blues hierarchy, the irrepressible guitarist will make it easy for you.
You got the John Lee Hooker boogie, got the Magic Sam boogie, got the Freddie King boogie, got the James Cotton boogie, " he sings on "Blind Man Boogie," a rollicking jump blues number. "Now I can boogie like nobody else. Got my own boogie, got to express myself."
And express himself he does, on that cut, throughout the ten others on Heat Seeking Missile (his fourth album for Montreal-based Justin Time Records), and in every aspect of his remarkable career. Much of his tenure in the Crescent City has been spent performing in the French Quarter, cranking out four sets a night five nights a week with his band, The Jump Street Five. When he leaves the Quarter to play elsewhere, his performances are met with universal praise. He has been a favourite at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for over a decade, and recent appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival have inspired critical raves.
And with each successive trip to the studio, Lee has sharpened his skills as a musician, bandleader and producer. Heat Seeking Missile is far and away his most accomplished album in terms of song writing, (7 of the 11 cuts are Bryan Lee originals) arrangements and performance.
Bryan Lee has grown with every album, gaining the confidence to make the kind of record he envisions. With Heat Seeking Missile, the bluesman has crafted an album that should lay his talents out for all the world to see...."
